New to Astralis JUGi comes in as gla1ve goes on medical leave

Astralis has just announced that Jakob ‘JUGi’ Hansen the latest addition to the team is all set to make his debut today, as the gla1ve takes a medical break. The news comes just days after JUGi was announced as the 7th player in the Astralis roster.

Lukas ‘gla1ve’ Rossander has said in the official statement posted on the team’s official website :-

For a long period of time, I have been experiencing symptoms of stress and burnout. Astralis Group and everyone on the team have tried a lot of different things in order to help, but after talking with Kasper Hvidt and my own doctor, we have concluded that unfortunately, I will have to go on sick leave.

For a long period of time, I have been experiencing symptoms of stress and burnout. Astralis Group and everyone on the team have tried a lot of different things in order to help, but after talking with Kasper Hvidt and my own doctor, we have concluded that unfortunately, I will have to go on sick leave.

In the next three months I will be focusing on getting better and recovering 100%, and then afterward returning as an active part of Astralis. I want to say a huge thank you to my teammates and the organization for being so understanding towards my situation and for being so helpful and trying to find a solution.

Head coach of Astralis, Danny “zonic” Sørensen, has also stated in the official release, that they want Lukas back 100%, as he recovers.

First and foremost I am sad for Lukas, but I am also happy that he gets to take an actual break. You might not see it from the outside but there are so many tasks on a CS-team and many players are pressured beyond what is healthy. This has been a focus within the organization and on the team, but even under almost optimal conditions, there is still a need for improvement.

-This is our focus and I am happy that we can make a replacement and use “JUGi” in the coming tournaments. Of course, I am looking forward to having Lukas back 100% but right now he needs time to rest, and then we are fully focused on the tasks ahead.

Many Astralis fans might be worried about how the team might perform without gla1ve in the Dreamhack Masters Spring, but it seems that the team had already planned for this change, well before in advance, as zonic has said:-

We have known for a while that Lukas would not be a part of this tournament, so we are fully prepared to be playing with “JUGi”. Spirits are high, and even though it can be a big task to include a new player, we are entering the tournament with the ambition to win it.

Many eyes will be on the JUGi and how Astralis performs today, with their first match set for today against Heroic at the DreamHacks Masters Spring 2020.

We hope that gla1ve makes a comeback soon. Take care gla1ve.
